Last night we went to dinner with Michael and Martha at La Grolla on Selby Ave in St. Paul. We gathered to celebrate Martha's birthday (which was actually the previous Thursday). We had fun watching all of the prom kids disembarking from rented buses, in their incredible prom finery. (Boy, the level of 'fashion' has really changed since I was that age, but then again I was never a prom-goer.)
We had a great meal, Carrie and I split an appetizer and an entree, Capellini al Pomodoro and we couldn't quite finish it. (A lunch for later this week.) Great food, wine and a sinful dessert as well. And Michael graciously and generously treated us to this wonderful meal. Thank you Michael!
After our dinner we went to Michael's place and played games for a bit before heading home.
Here's Martha, opening her birthday card at the restaurant. She looks pretty happy, no?

Good food, great friends, nothing better. LOVE the photo!
Mark! You took a photo of me that I actually like! I do look happy and I was. I am! What's more, I had one of the best meals EVER!
For your gentle readers' benefit - I had Carrtoccio (I think!). Linguine with fruti di mare (clams, mussels, squid, scallops), steamed in a parchment with broth and crushed red pepper. Bellisimo and delisio. (You know what I mean!)
I have the painting of the simgle, salwart yellow tulip sitting here on my desk. I like it very much. Even though I'm 52 (old my most people's standards) I feel as though I'm that tulip, just shooting bravely up into the world, not yet opened but already what it is going to be.
Thank you for being in my life Mark. (And as always, you too Carrie.)
Single. Not simgle. And by not my. Sigh.
I would change these things but I don't know how to edit comments! Should have proofed!
I would love to have that photo!
If Martha ever writes a book, this photo should be on the dust jacket. I love it.
