Thrushes

Thrushes

TOSSED on the glittering air they soar and skim,
Whose voices make the emptiness of light
A windy palace. Quavering from the brim
Of dawn, and bold with song at edge of night,
They clutch their leafy pinnacles and sing         5
Scornful of man, and from his toils aloof
Whose heart's a haunted woodland whispering;
Whose thoughts return on tempest-baffled wing;
Who hears the cry of God in everything,
And storms the gate of nothingness for proof.

A Reading

Last night we attended a poetry reading at Nina's in St. Paul. Our friend Cathy read from a piece she's working on; it's heading toward being another one-woman show piece that she'd like to perform at the Fringe. Insightful, a little sad but above all drop-down funny, as sweet Cathy always is. Here she is waiting for her turn to go on.

The Good and the Funny

Of the two dogs that live with us Gracie is the 'good dog' and Rose is the 'funny dog'. Sometimes we imagine what life would be like with two Gracies (in jest, mostly). Calmer certainly, but far less humorous. Here's Rose with one of her favorite toys 'Carl', so named from the Good Dog Carl series, a wonderful group of books if you're a pre-reader. As is Rose.

I still like film

How is it possible to have a roll of film in a camera for, oh, 9 months or so? I guess if you have more than one camera, it's not so unthinkable. Just got a roll of Kodak BW400CN dunked at Target in Stillwater this morning. (The wally world in my town stopped processing film a few weeks ago; one less reason to set foot in there.)

The latest five images in this gallery were shot with my trusty Canonet QL-17 (thanks, Johnny Kozy!).

I think I'm might be hanging out here a little more than on Facebook from now on. Many reasons, some 'reasonable' some not. So if you're inclined, point your RSS reader here and I'll try to post something once in awhile. Oh, and Twitter, too, where I'm mtgiven.

Now on Flickr for your viewing enjoyment

I'm trying to expand my online photo 'footprint' so Flickr here I come. Not much here that isn't on Smugmug, but I seem to be getting a few 'views'. Posting to a couple of groups helps.

If she'll have me back...

Back to the blog I guess, since Facebook is such a load of teeny-bopper manure. Is it too much to ask to be able to make a word in a post a hyperlink? Seems pretty basic to me. If you know how, let me know if you will.

I know no one will see me here, but at least I can post a frikkin' link. Kinda proud of that one.

Two months are up

November and December. Seem to be doing more of these postings on Facebook lately. But I think you have to join to see my page. Not sure it's worth it. Anyway, have a look, if you're inclined.
